Camping Trip July 2018

Jason looks good lounging on his chair.

This was our view near our camp site.

This picture puts a smile on my face. I love this man.

We climbed up from this ravine.

Amazing sunset!

We enjoyed our pie iron pizza.

We explored Diamond Point, a little north of Payson, Arizona.

Diamond Rim Quartz Crystal Collection Site.

The dark clouds came rolling in. We found some quartz before the rain came.

We did collect some small quarts we found some pretty sandstone. Some too large to do more than admire.

Hummingbirds feeding

I posted last month on Hummingbirds feeding on one of my feeders. This feeder was a gift from one of my daughters.

This picture was taken right after a rainstorm.

Exploring in the desert

Today we went to Reymert, Arizona. We visited the old Reymert Mines. It was an interesting place.

It was hot and we had to walk over a mile to get to the site. We ventured to the desert to use Jason’s new metal detector. The only object we found is a 1965 dime. We did gain memories and plan on coming back when it’s cooler.

He also has a metal detector wand.

Our car was filthy from the drive but in the picture you couldn’t see all the dirt.

Turkey vultures circling.

A small cactus growing from in between rocks. At the first glance I thought it was growing on the rock.

A group of five cattle walking by.

The remains of two processing kilns.

It sure was spicy outside. My middle child’s way to say it’s hot out.

Jason digging to look for the metal the detector was beeping at. It was just an old piece of metal.

Jason standing by an old rock wall.

You can see the remnants of a rock wall.
According to Wikipedia these are stacked stone foundations.

Kendree and Kindsey sitting in the shade. We ate grapes, carrots and grape tomatoes as a snack.

You can google Reymert Mines or Reymert, Arizona. Nice history and the desert is beautiful.

Even though today it was hot is was not too bad in the morning when we visited the historical site. We drove for about an hour from our house. It’s nice to get out and do something different.

Homemade Salsa

I blended canned tomato’s with cilantro.

I like the cilantro blended.

I added straight to the bowl without blending the Fire Roasted Tomato Salsa. I usually just use regular canned tomatoes but this kind gives the salsa a lot more flavor.
I add some lime juice, minced garlic, salt and cumin.

This is a half of a jalapeño. I made salsa a few days before this batch. I had a half of jalapeño leftover.

I chopped a red bell pepper.

I added just a small amount of green onion. I kitchen scissors to cut green onions since it’s much easier than slicing them with a knife.

I am pleased with my beautiful batch of salsa.

It is ready to enjoy and satisfy the tastebuds

I’ve made salsa many times. This seriously is the best salsa I’ve ever made.
