Solomon Ward Family Pine Wood Derby

Kindsey doesn't like when I attempt to take her photo.

Atleast I got her eyes in this second one.

Kendree, her twin sister, on the other hand usually lets me.

Kallee smiling for the camera...

My car is the light blue car in the back.

The race track...

So I got a lot of various pictures. A lot of ward members showed up. It was a lot of fun. The children get a huge kick out of watching the races. I lost the race, but I had fun making my car. I actually made mine last year, but repainted it for this year. I love ward activities. It is a great way to socialize and get to know more ward members.

Healthy Snack

Cucumber slices, carrot slices and grapes.

I ate most of this while watching a great movie, Fiddler on the Roof. A great alternative to eating chocolate, ice cream or other not so healthy of a snack.

Curling Iron block

I painted this to rest my curling iron on when hot.

I painted the wood, cut out the birds and star.
Then I used some Mod Podge to glue it all on.

Now it is on my dresser. It doesn't really match, but that's okay. My room is full of different colors.

I made this so if the curling iron fell over it may ruin the cloth on my dresser.
Now it will be protected.

Homemade Biscuits

I couldn't find my round biscuit cutters so I used a butterfly cookie cutter.

This is how they looked before baking.

This is country gravy over the done biscuits. Very good!

They stay about the same size when done baking.
Biscuit Recipe...

2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 Tablespoon baking powder
1/2 cup softened butter
3/4 cup milk
2 teaspoons sugar

In bowl add flour; salt; sugar; baking powder and stir. Add milk and melted butter and stir. Knead about 1 minute. Pat out or roll 1/2 inch thick. Cut out biscuits. Bake in 350 degree preheated oven for 15 minutes.

So easy. I think next time I make them I'll use a fun cookie cutter again for some flare.

Potatoes and Cheese Sauce

I rinsed then slices the potatoes.

On stove top I mixed 1 can of Campbell's Cheddar Cheese; 1 can of milk; 1 cube of butter; 1/2 cup water; and added pepper. Then covered in foil. Baked for 1 hour at 400 degrees.

This is the result. So good. The perfect side dish. Easy too.
The peelings give them an extra good flavor as well.

Broken metacarpel

Ouch! This is my sixteen year old daughters left hand.

This is her splint that was put on after her appointment with an Orthopedic surgeon.

Less than a week later after her appointment she was about to have surgery to put a permanent stainless steel plate over the bone to keep it in place. This is in the pre-op room

Not the best picture with the glare in her glasses. This is Kymber two days later, when my mom and I took Kymber to lunch at Serrano's on Gilbert and McKellips.

Interesting how all the pain and stuff that had to take place all because some kids were sword fighting without wearing protective gear. We all live and learn, sometimes the hard way.

Certified Nursing Assistant

I passed my Arizona Sate Boards and sent in my application to get my license number. I cannot even describe how happy I am and relieved to have done well in class and pass the state boards written test and the skills part. I was really nervous and afraid I would skip a step or more. We have 35 minutes to do four skills and I had time left so I verbalized out loud all the steps for each skill and I caught that I had forgotten one. So I told the test observer I forgot an important step and so I demonstrated the step and said to her when I would of done that step. As I went through the rest of the skills I told her I think I did all the steps right and was done.

Even though I felt somewhat good about it I still spent the next three days being very nervous that I didn't pass. When I saw my score the third day I was so thrilled to see I passed. My written I got a 92% and the skills part just stated I passed the four skills.

I am looking forward to when I get my license number and can apply for CNA jobs. In the mean time I'll get ready and update my resume.

I am one happy girl!!

Wooden checkers and board in box

This is what I bought at Deseret Industries (A Donation Center) this week for only $4.00.  So cool! My children are really enjoying this game. I was really happy that all the pieces were there. Can't beat a good thrift store deal. DI is a great place to shop.

What I love....with all my heart!

I really do love the scriptures. I am blessed to have them and to read them each day.
